Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:
- Valid and current Captain’s certificates.
- Good command of German and English, spoken and written.
- Valid EU Work Permit.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work independently.
- Completed vocational or maritime education.
- Several years of professional experience in vessel command or comparable maritime roles.
- Previous experience in river navigation or passenger vessels is an advantage.
- Professional appearance and confident, service-oriented attitude.
- High sense of responsibility, reliability, and stress resilience.
- Excellent communication, organization, and decision-making skills.
- Willingness to comply with strict safety, alcohol, and drug policies.
- Minimum age: 21 years.
Tasks:
- Overall command and safe operation of the vessel in compliance with legal and maritime regulations.
- Continuous monitoring of navigational and safety factors, including:.
- Water levels and draught
- Weather conditions
- Bridge clearances
- Ballast management
- Ensuring proper watchkeeping and guard duties while docked.
- Planning and conducting regular safety drills with the deck crew.
- Full responsibility for all mandatory onboard documentation, including:
- Certificates, permits, and attestations.
- Technical equipment licenses and crane records.
- Nautical charts, regulations, and official instructions.
- Maintaining a complete and up-to-date documentation file in the wheelhouse.
- Accurate upkeep of all required logs, registers, and test records.
- Timely verbal and written reporting of incidents or irregularities.
- Acting as the highest authority onboard for all nautical and safety matters.
- Coordinating shore leave and crew activities during operations.
- Representing the vessel professionally through guest welcome and farewell duties.
- Promoting respectful, cooperative, and courteous conduct among crew and guests.
