**Description**
Fitter on board a container vessel, responsible for steel and pipe work, maintenance and repairs to hull, deck and engine room structures and fittings in line with company and class standards.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Carry out steel repairs, cutting, grinding and welding (including basic pipe work)
- Maintain and repair hull structures, foundations, handrails, ladders and supports
- Assist Engine and Deck departments with fabrication and fitting tasks
- Use and maintain workshop tools and equipment safely and correctly
- Support planned maintenance jobs as instructed by Chief Engineer
- Follow safe working practices and company procedures at all times
- Keep work areas, workshop and stores in good order

**Requirements**
- Minimum 1 year sea service as Fitter (or equivalent workshop/shipyard experience with seagoing contract as Fitter)
- Experience on container vessels preferred
- Proven skills in welding, gas cutting, grinding and basic fabrication
- Ability to read simple technical drawings and follow work instructions
- Valid seafarer documents and certificates as per flag and STCW
- Medically fit for sea service
- Good communication and teamwork skills on board an international crew
