OSM Thome is looking for an experienced Chief Officer to serve on a container vessel trading worldwide. You will support the Master in all deck operations and navigation, ensuring safe, efficient and compliant vessel operations.

• Key responsibilities:
  • Assist the Master in navigation, voyage planning and bridge watches
  • Lead and organize deck crew for cargo work and mooring operations
  • Plan and supervise cargo loading, stowage, securing and discharge
  • Oversee ballast operations and vessel stability
  • Ensure proper maintenance of deck equipment and safety gear
  • Implement and monitor safety, security and environmental procedures (ISM/ISPS)
  • Conduct safety drills, trainings and toolbox talks
  • Prepare and maintain deck logs, records and reports
• Requirements:
  • Valid Chief Officer / Chief Mate license (STCW II/2) for vessels over 3000 GT
  • Recent experience as Chief Officer or 1st Officer on container vessels
  • Valid STCW certificates and medical fitness
  • Strong knowledge of cargo handling, stowage and lashings for containers
  • Good leadership, communication and teamwork skills
  • Good command of English, spoken and written
