Join OSM Thome as 2nd Cook and be part of a small, dedicated galley team in Antarctica. You will support the Chief Cook in preparing good, hearty meals for the crew in a unique and challenging environment.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in daily food preparation and cooking for officers and crew
- Help plan and prepare simple, varied menus suitable for cold climate
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the galley and food stores
- Assist with receiving, checking and proper storage of provisions
- Follow all food safety, HACCP and company procedures
- Support dishwashing and general galley cleaning as needed
- Requirements:
- Previous experience as 2nd Cook, hotel or restaurant background preferred
- Basic knowledge of international and crew-style cooking
- Valid seafarer documents and medical fitness for polar trading area
- Good English communication and ability to work in a mixed-nationality crew
- Ability to work in remote, cold conditions and follow safety rules at all times
