The Chief Engineer will be responsible for safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all engine room and technical systems on board, ensuring compliance with flag, class and international regulations.

OSM Thome is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer for deployment on our client's container vessels trading worldwide. The Chief Engineer will be responsible for safe and efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all engine room and technical systems on board, ensuring compliance with flag, class and international regulations.Position Overview:
- Role: Chief Engineer (C/E)
- Location: Worldwide, joining in Asia
- Project: Container Vessels
- Rotation: 4 months (+/- 1) on & 2 months off
- Duration: 4 months - with option to extend or become permanent based on availability and performance, with rejoining bonus
- Rank Experience: 6 months in rank
- Container Experience: None required - though preferred.
- EU/EEA residence is required
Key Responsibilities:
- Take full responsibility for operation and maintenance of all main and auxiliary machinery, electrical and automation systems
- Plan, supervise and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance
- Ensure safe and economical operation of all machinery, fuel and lube oil systems
- Maintain engine room documentation, logs and planned maintenance records
- Lead, train and supervise the engine department team
- Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, ISM and company procedures
- Coordinate with Master and other departments for safe vessel operations
- Oversee spare parts, bunker and lube oil monitoring and consumption reports
- Ensure a high standard of housekeeping and safety in engine room and workshops
Requirements:
- Minimum 6 months sea service in rank as Chief Engineer on seagoing vessels
- Container vessel experience is not required - though preferred
- Valid STCW Reg. III/2 Class 1 COC and corresponding COP
- All mandatory STCW certificates and endorsements valid as per STCW requirements
- Medically fit for duty as per flag and company standards
- Good working knowledge of English, spoken and written
- Familiar with ISM/ISPS and modern planned maintenance systems
