Information about the job:
- Position: Purser.
- Project: 6th Generation DP3 Semi-Submersible Drilling Rig.
- Location: Ghana.
- Rotation: 28/28 days on/off.
- Salary: Please confirm your realistic expectations when applying. This will be discussed with the right candidate. Consolidated monthly (paid only when working on board).
- Contract start: ASAP (by the end of June).
- Contract duration: 6 months.
- Insurances: Provided by the Company.
- Employer: Our client, a drilling and construction contractor.
Requirements / Qualifications / Competence:
- Previous experience working in a marine, offshore, or vessel-based administrative role.
- Strong knowledge of marine radio communication procedures and onboard communication systems.
- Familiarity with SOLAS, ITU, and GMDSS requirements.
- Ability to maintain accurate records, logs, and operational documentation.
- Good organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to coordinate crew-related administration and communication activities.
- Proficient in spoken and written English.
- Ability to work effectively with vessel management, crew, and external service providers.
Tasks:
- Operate and monitor onboard communication systems in line with regulatory and company requirements.
- Maintain continuous radio monitoring for safety, distress, and operational communications.
- Receive and relay weather updates, navigational information, and maritime safety notices to relevant personnel.
- Escalate emergency or priority communications to the Master/OIM promptly.
- Manage communication with helicopter operations and support safe flight-related coordination.
- Keep accurate radio records, correspondence files, and communication logs.
- Process and distribute incoming and outgoing messages, documents, and mail.
- Support crew tracking processes and assist with onboard personnel administration.
- Coordinate daily communication activities between the vessel, shore teams, and external contacts.
