2nd Engineer (2/E) – Oil/Chemical Tanker – Europe (Portugal Flag)
**Description**
OSM Thome is looking for an experienced 2nd Engineer for an oil/chemical tanker trading in Europe under the Portugal flag. The 2/E will support the Chief Engineer in the safe and efficient running of all engine room and auxiliary machinery.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Assist Chief Engineer with overall engine room management and operations
- Operate, monitor and maintain main engine, auxiliaries, boilers and associated systems
- Plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance as per PMS
- Supervise and guide engine room ratings in day-to-day duties
- Ensure safe engine room practices and compliance with company procedures
- Maintain engine room logs, records and reports accurately
- Support bunkering operations and fuel/lube oil management
- Ensure compliance with international, flag state and class requirements
- Assist with troubleshooting and repairs during normal operation and dry dock
**Requirements**
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as 2nd Engineer on oil/chemical tankers
- Valid STCW III/2 2nd Engineer CoC suitable for Portugal-flagged vessel
- All required STCW certificates for service on oil/chemical tankers
- Good knowledge of tanker operations, safety and environmental regulations
- Experience with planned maintenance systems and engine room documentation
- Able to work within an international crew and follow company safety culture
