Sports Staff | Royal Caribbean

We are looking for energetic and outgoing Sports Staff to join Royal Caribbean Group onboard our cruise ships.

The Sports Staff team is responsible for leading and supporting a wide range of recreational and entertainment activities for guests, including sports deck activities, climbing wall, FlowRider, in-line skating, golf simulator, volleyball, basketball, ping pong, shuffleboard, theme nights, gangway duties, and other Cruise Director activities.

• Lead, promote, and participate in Sports Deck activities, Vitality programs, tournaments, and guest events.
• Act as Master of Ceremonies for selected sports and recreational activities.
• Issue, explain, and demonstrate the safe use of sports and recreational equipment.
• Provide guest instruction for activities such as climbing wall, FlowRider, in-line skating, golf simulator, and other onboard sports activities.
• Explain and enforce safety rules and regulations at all times.
• Monitor guests during activities and assist where needed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.
• Assemble, disassemble, clean, store, and maintain sports equipment and activity props.
• Carry out regular inventory checks and report equipment that requires repair or replacement.
• Maintain the Sports Deck area in a clean, organized, and guest-ready condition.
• Post daily activity information, opening hours, and relevant guest notices.
• Respond to guest questions, concerns, and complaints in a professional and positive manner.
• Assist with guest activities, theme nights, spotlights, parades, gangway duties, debarkation procedures, and other entertainment-related operations when required.
• Attend meetings, trainings, rehearsals, and other work-related activities as requested.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned by supervisors or management.

• Minimum one year of experience in physical fitness, recreational sports instruction, resorts, sports facilities, or similar recreational environments.
• Experience coordinating or instructing recreational sports and activities for groups or individual guests.
• Strong knowledge of sports such as basketball, volleyball, golf, ping pong, shuffleboard, and similar activities.
• Strong customer service skills with the ability to interact with guests in a friendly, professional, and positive manner.
• Ability to communicate clearly and tactfully with guests, supervisors, department heads, and fellow crew members.
• Good computer skills and ability to use basic software packages.
• High school diploma or basic education equivalent required.
• Excellent command of English, both spoken and written.
• Additional languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, or German are considered an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous Master of Ceremonies experience.
• Rock climbing wall/manual belay certification.
• FlowRider instruction experience.
• Experience operating or maintaining FlowRider or similar water park equipment.
• Fitness, health, or sports-related certification or degree.
• CPR and lifesaving certification from the Red Cross or a similar recognized organization.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be physically fit and able to take part in active sports and entertainment duties.
• Must be able to stand, walk, reach, bend, communicate clearly, and perform physical activity for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Must be physically able to participate in emergency lifesaving procedures and safety drills onboard.
• Must have full visual, verbal, hearing, arm, and leg mobility required for emergency duties.
• Must be able and willing to be trained for stilt walking and parade participation, where required.
