The Safety & Quality Assurance Coach is responsible for driving a proactive safety culture, operational discipline and process safety awareness.
KEY OBJECTIVES
- Improve safety performance through visible leadership and coaching.
- Strengthen process safety and hydrocarbon containment discipline.
- Enhance quality assurance and procedural compliance.
- Improve competency and workforce development.
- Reduce incidents, non-conformities and repeat findings.
- Increase operational reliability and efficiency.
- Promote learning culture and continuous improvement.
- Support compliance with client, flag state, class and regulatory requirements.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct risk-based audits of all operations with a particular focus on compliance with internal procedures.
- Responsible for carrying out nominated Internal audits according to the agreed Offshore Visit and Inspection Program.
- Responsible for carrying out Competence gap identification onboard vessels.
- Responsible for measuring Training completions per Matrices and identify gaps recommend subjects for training from observations in the field.
- Educate, mentor, and assist OSM Thome personnel ashore and at sea to handle any safety management and security-related matters pertaining to their position or rank.
- Carry out take-over tasks for new units into management with special focus on familiarity with SMS, PMS (TM Master), Training and Competency Management and routines for the new vessel. (Per Matrixes and Compliance in COMPAS).
- Act and engage with crew onboard and other staff to drive Continuous Improvements to the SMS and to the Safety Culture.
- Attend/ Conduct / Witness Drills and Exercises in the Field in Liaison with the OIM and Client’s Reps. Record Critiques and maintain After Action Register.
- Observe and record the effectiveness of the Field Emergency Response Plan
- Assist in keeping the QA / Safety Coach tools up to date.
DUTIES
- Carry out audits and inspections onboard company managed units.
- Keep oneself familiar with Marine Offshore Oil and Gas Standards; i.e. OEUK, OPITO, IOGP etc. and related Industry Best Practices.
- Ensure that onboard crew competency is assessed, gapped and mentoring plans and training are carried out to close gaps. Including E-Learnings i.e. OLP (SEAGULL)
- Carry out crew behaviour (BBS) and related appraisal assessments.
- Participate in Incident Investigations and Intervention Reports RCAs.
- Analyze the effectiveness of the Annual HSE Plan and the HSE Bridging Document
