Description
OSM Thome is looking for an experienced Fitter (FTR) to join a fully pressurized LPG tanker, trading worldwide under Liberia flag, with joining port in Houston. The Fitter will support deck and engine departments in maintenance and repair of steel structures, pipelines and machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform steel repairs, cutting, grinding and welding on deck and in engine room
- Maintain and repair pipelines, supports, foundations and other structural parts
- Assist in maintenance of deck and engine equipment as instructed by senior officers
- Carry out hot work safely in enclosed and open spaces
- Use and maintain hand tools and workshop machinery properly
- Follow onboard safety procedures and permit-to-work systems
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year sea service experience as Fitter on tankers (LPG experience preferred)
- Good knowledge of welding, gas cutting and basic machining
- Familiar with tanker safety practices and hot work procedures
- Valid US visa for joining in Houston
- Valid STCW certificates as per rank and vessel type
- Good English communication for shipboard operations
