Position Summary:
The Waiter/Waitress provides friendly, professional, and courteous service to guests in all dining venues onboard. They are responsible for ensuring an exceptional dining experience by anticipating and fulfilling guest needs, presenting menu items, and maintaining cleanliness and service standards. The position supports the cruise line’s service standards and cultural philosophy including Royal Way or Celebrity Connections.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:- Greet, seat, and serve guests following company service protocols.
- Present menus, describe items using appropriate food and wine terminology, and make recommendations.
- Take orders and input them in the POS system.
- Coordinate food and beverage delivery from the galley and bar.
- Ensure all food is properly garnished and meets presentation standards.
- Provide leadership and guidance to Assistant Waiters.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of assigned station, including tables, chairs, and side stands.
- Participate in dining room entertainment and theme night parades.
- Rotate across service venues including buffet, room service, and specialty dining.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, trainings, and safety drills.
- Comply with safety, sanitation (USPH), and environmental standards.
- Actively follow ServSafe protocols for responsible alcohol service.
- Report guest complaints, special requests, or incidents to supervisor.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Customer Experience & Service:
- Uphold the highest standards of hospitality and professionalism.
- Anticipate guest needs, handle issues with empathy and ownership.
- Personalize service by using guest names and maintaining a positive demeanor.
- Avoid saying "No" and instead offer alternatives.
- Financial & Operational Responsibilities
- Support cost control by using supplies and equipment efficiently.
- Follow all SOPs related to safety, service, and environmental procedures.
Hiring Requirements:
- 2–3 years of waiter experience in a 4 or 5-star establishment, cruise ship experience preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- ServSafe certification within 30 days of employment.
- Basic math skills and ability to interpret menus, schedules, and operational manuals.
Language Requirements:
- Fluency in English (spoken and written).
- Additional languages (Spanish, French, German, Italian, or Portuguese) preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to carry trays with 12–16 covers (up to 50 lbs/22 kg).
- Frequently required to stand, walk, reach, and lift.
- Must have full use of arms, legs, visual, and hearing capabilities for emergency drills and guest interactions.
