Information about the job:

  • Job Title: 1st Assistant (Senior Offshore Shift Supervisor (Construction).
  • Project: Various Offshore.
  • Location: Worldwide.
  • Rotation: 35/35 days on/off.
  • Salary: Please state your realistic expectations when applying. It is consolidated monthly and paid only when working not when on leave. Wage level will be discussed during the final interview.

Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:

  • 4 years of experience in the role of 1st assistant (Roles that are equivalent in experience can be found below).
  • Preferably with a Technical High School Diploma or a Civil, mechanical, electrical or naval engineering background.
  • 6-7 years of prior experience in the oil & gas business.
  • No candidates who are already following a maritime career will be shortlisted.
  • Candidates with an engineering background will be preferred.
  • Proficient in English (spoken and written).


Tasks:

  • Monitor and guide the execution of construction and assembly work during assigned shifts.
  • Conduct coordination meetings with shift leaders and subcontractor reps.
  • Review and approve daily job safety analyses and toolbox talks before activities begin.
  • Inspect and verify rigging gear status and certifications.
  • Manage load transfers and heavy lifts in collaboration with crane operators and marine staff.
  • Supervise ROV launches and underwater equipment operations.
  • Track usage and availability of consumables and equipment during operations.
  • Compile and submit shift-end progress reports with activity logs and highlights.
  • Address discipline clashes or sequencing issues to avoid workflow delays.
  • Respond to emergent issues onboard and escalate them to the Offshore Construction Manager.
  • Assist in deck layout planning and stinger/JLT operation monitoring.
  • Enforce adherence to QHSE standards at all times.
  • Ensure full compliance with Permit-to-Work protocols for every workfront.
