- Job Title: Vessel Equipment Engineer ( Barge Engineer).
- Project: Various Offshore Vessels.
- Location: Worldwide.
- Rotation: 35/35 days on/off.
- Salary: Please confirm your realistic expectations when applying. This will be discussed with the right candidate. Consolidated monthly salary per month of work will be offered.
- Start date: ASAP.
- Insurance: Provided by the Company.
Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:
- Experience of at least 5 years as 2nd Engineer /Electrical Engineer.
- Master's Degree/bachelor’s degree from a Technical Institute.
- Advanced Mechanical and/or Electrical knowledge
- Responsibility for the maintenance of Barge’s equipment and upkeep:
- Machinery
- Towing Gear and related items
- Mooring Equipment (Winches, Bollards, Mooring Lines)
- Ballast System
- Minor repairs and preservation (chipping, painting, welding, etc.).
- Management & Request Spare Parts and other Barge consumables.
- Provision of assistance and reporting to management team.
- Responsibility to carry out all ballasting operations as well as all the other barge equipment’s.
- Management of Mooring Crews and assist on all Tug operations.
- Ability to act as owner’s representative on site and during tow, looking after the Barge’s security and all her assets.
- Reporting to the Maintenance Team and Project Team.
- Experience as a Seaman and knowledge of Maritime rules and regulations.
- Be an independent worker, capable of managing his workload with minimum supervision & minimum to no assistance.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
Tasks:
- Oversee day-to-day functioning of mechanical equipment onboard.
- Direct and support mechanical team leaders and offshore technicians.
- Allocate daily tasks and coordinate maintenance workloads.
- Plan maintenance cycles and prioritize urgent or critical activities.
- Maintain appropriate stock levels of essential parts and materials.
- Procure necessary components for scheduled and preventive maintenance.
- Use company-approved systems for tracking and executing maintenance work.
- Coordinate with the Chief Engineer and Construction Manager on equipment readiness for projects.
- Prepare machinery for inactivity during stand-by periods.
- Inspect and certify project-specific tools and ensure correct storage.
- Perform repairs on project equipment as needed.
- Organize proper packaging and preservation of mobile units post-project.
- Train and guide junior maintenance engineers.
- Document and report incidents and near-misses.
- Lead toolbox talks and assist in job safety assessments.
- Support emergency response duties as assigned.
- Report directly to the Chief Engineer.
