OSM Thome Recruitment is looking for experienced Fitter for unique career opportunities in the cruise industry, on behalf of Royal Caribbean Group. 


Position Summary:

The Fitter Deck is responsible for performing maintenance, repairs, and fabrication work on deck and accommodation areas, as assigned by the engineering management team. The role involves assisting with preventive and corrective maintenance of ship systems and equipment under the direct or indirect supervision of onboard engineers.

This position requires professionalism, teamwork, and adherence to all safety and operational standards. All shipboard employees are expected to conduct themselves courteously in all guest and crew areas.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out assigned work orders from the Staff Chief Engineer, Chief Electrical Engineer, or Accommodations Maintenance Manager.
  • Assist with the repair, overhaul, and general maintenance (both scheduled and unscheduled) of various systems and equipment onboard.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed safely and in compliance with company and maritime standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and properly handle tools and materials.
  • Support engineering and maintenance teams in daily operations and emergency repairs.
  • Uphold the highest levels of safety, professionalism, and customer service when interacting with guests and crew.

Qualifications:

Experience & Education:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a similar fitter or craftsman position, preferably onboard ships or in a marine/industrial environment.
  • Welding Certificate issued by LR, ABS, DNV, BV, or GL.
  • Valid Motorman’s or Electrician License.
  • Knowledge of propulsion systems and auxiliary systems (hydraulic, water, sewage, etc.).
  • Completed Fire-Fighting and STCW training (current certification required).
  • Basic computer skills; a background in computer science or database management is an advantage.
  • High school diploma or equivalent education preferred.

Language Requirements

  • Ability to speak, read, and write English clearly and effectively.
  • Capable of understanding and following written and verbal instructions.
  • Able to communicate courteously and professionally with guests, supervisors, and co-workers.


Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, walk, and use hands for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Good vision (color, depth perception, and focus) and hearing are required.
  • Physically able to participate in emergency drills and lifesaving procedures, including lowering lifeboats and handling emergency equipment.
