OSM Thome Recruitment isseeking motivated Engine Cadets to join onboard engineering team. on behalf of Royal Caribbean Group.
As an Engine Cadet, you will follow a structured training program aligned with STCW requirements and your maritime school’s curriculum. Under the supervision of the Chief Engineer Junior, you will rotate through various tasks in engine room operations, maintenance, safety procedures, and onboard familiarization.
This role emphasizes learning, participation, discipline, and safety awareness while supporting the engineering team as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:- Participate fully in all company-required training and shipboard familiarization programs.
- Complete engine officer familiarization forms and shipboard training modules.
- Maintain and regularly update your training and sea-time record book.
- Assist in daily engine room operations under supervision.
- Support routine maintenance activities and planned maintenance tasks.
- Participate in engine management and watchkeeping practices.
- Take part in safety drills, emergency training, and other regulatory exercises.
- Follow all safety, environmental, sanitation, and operational procedures at all times.
- Carry out assigned tasks throughout the ship as needed.
- Review your training record weekly with the Chief Engineer Junior.
- Present training documentation to the ship’s Master every 30 days.
- Ensure all training assignments are completed accurately and on time.
Qualifications: - Must be currently enrolled in a recognized maritime academy or nautical school as part of an engineering training program.
- Possess valid STCW Basic Safety Training certification.
Language Requirements
- Ability to speak English clearly, professionally, and courteously.
- Ability to read and write English to understand procedures and communicate with supervisors and fellow crew.
Physical Requirements:
- Able to stand, walk, handle equipment, and move around the vessel for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Good vision (near, far, color, peripheral, depth perception) with ability to adjust focus.
- Physically capable of participating in emergency drills and lifeboat operations.
