Position Summary:
The 3rd Assistant Electrician supports the Chief Electrical Engineer and 1st Electrical Engineer in performing electrical maintenance, repairs, and basic troubleshooting throughout the vessel. This role requires technical competence, the ability to work with minimal supervision, and a commitment to safety and environmental standards. The 3rd Assistant Electrician contributes to the smooth operation of shipboard electrical systems, ensuring a safe and comfortable experience for both guests and crew.
Key Responsibilities:
- Receive and follow a written job description provided by the Chief Electrical Engineer upon joining the vessel or when changes occur.
- Maintain and ensure proper functioning of all interior and exterior (deck) lighting.
- Perform daily lighting rounds.
- Repair electrical equipment in guest and crew cabins.
- Repair and maintain vacuum cleaners.
- Repair electrical tools and minor equipment.
- Operate within the AVO System and comply with related procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of electrical and electronic workshops and all electrical lockers across the ship.
- Clean and maintain filters of electrical dimming racks.
- Assist Storekeepers during storing operations.
- Carry out duties assigned by supervisors in the Marine Department.
- Perform any job-related tasks required by management or supervisors.
- Participate in cross-departmental assistance as needed.
Qualifications:- Minimum 2 years of experience in the electrical field.
- Electrical studies certificate or diploma in a relevant technical specialty.
- 3+ years of progressive electrical/technical experience and training.
- Ability to perform all responsibilities listed in the job description.
- Previous experience in an international working environment strongly preferred.
- Proficient spoken and written English communication skills.
- Ability to work productively and respectfully in a multicultural team.
Physical & Language Requirements:
- Clear, cordial English communication (spoken and written).
- Ability to interpret and understand technical manuals, written procedures, and instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with crew, supervisors, management, and guests when required.
- Regular standing, walking, use of hands, reaching, speaking, and hearing.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Good vision: near, far, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
- Must be physically able to participate in emergency response procedures, including life-saving drills.
- Full use of arms, legs, hearing, and verbal communication is required to respond effectively in emergency situations.
