Position Summary:
The Joiner performs skilled technical maintenance and repair work related to the vessel’s interior structures and finishes. The role supports the conservation, installation, and repair of materials such as upholstery, carpets, wall coverings, furniture, and other shipboard accommodation elements. The Joiner must be capable of working independently, following work orders from the Accommodations Maintenance Manager and/or Staff Captain, and completing a wide range of tasks safely and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- All duties must be executed in alignment with:
- ISM/ISO and SQM standards
- USPH guidelines
- Environmental & Safety policies
- Carry out maintenance, repair, and conservation tasks involving:
- Carpets and carpet tiles
- Wallpapers and wall coverings
- Furniture repairs and adjustments
- Other accommodation-related interior elements
- Work flexible shifts, including alternative schedules as needed.
- Be available to perform additional tasks and general assistance as directed by supervisors anywhere on the vessel
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensuring proper use of tools, materials, and equipment.
Qualifications:- Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar joinery/interior maintenance role.
- Demonstrated customer service skills aligned with the STAR Program.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Completion of STCW95 Basic Safety Training and Social Responsibility certification.
Physical & Language Requirements:
- Ability to speak English clearly, professionally, and courteously with guests and crew.
- Ability to read and write English to interpret procedures, follow work orders, and communicate effectively with supervisors and coworkers.
- Regular standing, walking, handling materials, and reaching with arms and hands.
- Frequent lifting or moving of items up to 50 pounds.
- Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception, plus the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be physically able to participate in emergency drills and life-saving procedures, including lifeboat operations.
- Full use of arms, legs, hearing, and speech is required to carry out emergency duties.
