Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:
- Valid STCW Certificate of Proficiency appropriate to the position.
- STCW Basic Safety Training (personal survival, fire prevention, elementary first aid, personal safety & social responsibilities).
- Advanced firefighting and medical first aid certification.
- Radar observation, ARPA operation, and ECDIS ship-specific competence.
- GMDSS radio watchkeeping competence and valid radio operator certificate.
- Proficiency in survival craft and rescue boats, including fast rescue boat.
- Leadership, teamwork, and bridge resource management training.
- Offshore safety training (BOSIET or equivalent).
- H₂S awareness and basic well control certification.
- Helideck operations and emergency response training (HOIT, HERTM / HERTL as applicable).
- Offshore emergency response team member certification.
- Security awareness certification for designated shipboard duties.
- Dangerous goods awareness for air transport.
- Familiarity with international maritime regulations, safety management systems, and offshore operational practices.
Tasks:
- Stand navigational and operational watches during transit and offshore activities.
- Supervise deck personnel during assigned watches to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Support vessel stability management, including ballast control and load coordination.
- Operate ballast systems independently or under senior officer direction.
- Assist with lift planning by verifying trim, stress, and stability limits.
- Coordinate crane movements and vessel ballasting during offshore operations.
- Maintain navigational charts, publications, and statutory records.
- Monitor and test navigation, communication, and safety equipment.
- Perform GMDSS and radio watchkeeping duties, including weather and safety broadcasts.
- Support cargo handling, offshore lifting, and coordination with support vessels.
- Assist with certification tracking for lifting gear, pad eyes, and cargo equipment.
- Participate in drills, emergency response, and onboard training programs.
- Support surveys, audits, and inspections by class and third-party authorities.
- Carry out helideck duties and support helicopter landing operations.
- Identify and report unsafe acts, conditions, or incidents affecting vessel safety.
- Immediately escalate abnormal situations or hazards to senior officers.
