About Hurtigruten:

Hurtigruten is a Norwegian shipping and travel company that sails the legendary coastal route between Kirkenes and Bergen, often referred to as “the world’s most beautiful sea voyage.” In addition to the traditional route, Hurtigruten also offers signature routes such as the North Cape Line, the Svalbard Line, and Hamburg–North Cape, with a fleet of ten ships in total.

Since its inception in 1893, Hurtigruten has safely transported local passengers, essential goods, vehicles, and tourists to 34 ports along the Norwegian coast.

Hurtigruten is one of Norway’s largest maritime employers, with 1,500 seafarers and apprentices on board. The company collaborates with local suppliers to serve world-class local cuisine and offers selected excursions to its guests in partnership with local operators.

Environmental responsibility and sustainability are central to Hurtigruten. In 2009, Hurtigruten eliminated the use of heavy fuel oil, and the fleet now includes four hybrid ships. The goal is to operate an emission-free ship by 2030 through the ambitious Sea Zero program.



Duties and responsibilities:

• Manage daily provision operations, ensuring cleanliness, organization, and security of all storerooms.

• Update inventory templates based on seasonal menus and operational requirements.

• Receive and verify goods upon delivery, checking quantity and quality in collaboration with the Executive Chef for perishables.

• Issue goods to departments and verify movements; ensure all transactions are processed through the inventory management system.

• Maintain accurate stock records and ensure all withdrawals are properly documented and approved.

• Collaborate with the head of departments in hotel on ordering goods based on templates and standard inventory levels; handle returns and complaints.

• Ensure proper storage and handling of provisions in compliance with food safety and HACCP standards.

• Monitor and update chemical storage for the hotel department.

• Report any non-conformities or maintenance issues to superiors and follow up until resolved.

• Assist department heads with inventory system procedures and provide guidance to ensure effective use.

• Make necessary corrections and entries for losses or discrepancies, approved by the Hotel Manager.

• Maintain confidentiality regarding purchasing agreements and company contracts.

• Support waste management processes in provision rooms, galleys, and sales departments, including handling returns and empty bottles.

• Perform additional operational tasks as instructed by the Hotel Manager.


Voyage

• Conduct stock counts for all stores per cruise and ensure approval by the Hotel Manager before the next voyage.

• Assist with surprise stock checks as requested by the company.

• Participate in loading operations as directed.



Monthly

• Review and follow risk assessments for assigned areas.

• Inspect storerooms for hygiene and pest control compliance.

• Read and acknowledge updates to company procedures.

• Prepare inventory reports and ensure accuracy in the inventory management system.


Training & Development

• Attend all safety trainings as required.

• Complete all public health and sanitation training.

• Ensure all training is recorded and filed.


Financial

• Monitor daily and monthly costs and ensure compliance with budget.

• Reduce waste and record according to company procedures.

• Work according to schedule to minimize overtime.




Qualifications/Experience:

•  All employees must have; Basic safety STCW A-V/1-1, 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, Crowd and Crisis Management, and approved health certificate from authorized seafarer doctor. There is no requirement to have completed the courses before applying, but you must be willing to take them, and please note that the individual must pay for the courses themselves

Language requirements:

Fluent in English, with strong written and spoken abilities



Authority

The Provision Master reports to the Hotel Manager and makes operational decisions in cooperation with them. Additional duties may be assigned by the line manager.

The Provision Master reports to the Hotel Manager and has direct responsibility for the Storekeeper and Assistant Storekeeper.

The Provision Master can stop receiving or issuing goods if product quality, safety, or compliance is at risk and will make necessary corrections within their authority, escalating to the Hotel Manager when needed

Direct reports: Storekeeper, Assistant Storekeeper.
