Join OSM Thome as Mooring Master on an offshore special purpose vessel operating in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. In this role, you will lead and oversee all mooring and unmooring operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant marine activities in a busy offshore environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, lead, and execute all mooring and unmooring operations offshore
- Coordinate with the bridge team, deck crew, pilots, and offshore terminals
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, local regulations, and industry standards
- Monitor weather, sea conditions, and vessel positioning to maintain safe operations
- Conduct pre-operation briefings, risk assessments, and toolbox talks with the crew
- Keep accurate records of operations and report any incidents or near misses
- Support training and mentoring of deck officers and crew in mooring practices
Requirements
- Valid Master Mariner (Unlimited) CoC or equivalent
- Proven experience as Mooring Master or similar offshore loading/mastering role
- Strong background in offshore operations and tanker/SBM/CBM/STL mooring
- Good knowledge of international maritime regulations and safety procedures
- Fluent in English; Portuguese communication skills are an advantage
- Fit for offshore duty, with valid medical and relevant offshore certificates (e.g. BOSIET/FOET)
- Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills under pressure
