Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:
- Proven experience operating drilling systems on ultra-deepwater drillships of recent design.
- Demonstrated ability to run drilling operations under dynamic positioning conditions.
- Strong working knowledge of automated drilling control and real-time data systems.
- Valid offshore certifications and medical clearance appropriate for rotational work.
- Ability to lead crews during critical operations with calm, decisive judgment.
- Solid understanding of well control principles beyond procedural compliance.
- Comfortable coordinating directly with shore-based technical and operations teams.
- Clear communicator in English, both written and spoken.
Tasks:
- Direct and monitor all drilling activities from spud to section completion.
- Adjust drilling parameters based on formation behavior and system feedback.
- Oversee safe operation of top drive, hoisting, circulation, and pressure systems.
- Ensure well integrity during transitions, abnormal events, and equipment changes.
- Guide and mentor drill floor personnel during routine and non-routine operations.
- Verify operational readiness of drilling equipment prior to critical phases.
- Document operational performance and contribute to post-section reviews.
- Act as the primary point of control during drilling-related emergencies.
