Assistant Cook job on board the cruise ships of Carnival Cruise Line
OSM Thome Recruitment is looking for experienced Assistant Cooks for unique career opportunities in the cruise industry, on behalf of Carnival Cruise Line.
Carnivals cruise ships are floating hotels and guest like to enjoy all the delicious food prepared by the Culinary Arts Team. In the job role as an Assistant Cook for Carnival you will be preparing meals, ensuring that all food production recipes and presentation specifications are followed, as per company standard, to produce food of consistent quality and cost.
Part of a team of hardworking Cooks and Commis Chefs, Assistant Cooks are learning the ropes in the vast Culinary operation on board. Involved in food preparation following recipes and specification to ensure quality and consistency as well as ensuring the highest level of sanitation is maintained, all in keeping with company and USPH standards.

Rotation: 8-9 months on / 2 months off.
A typical day on board as Assistant Cook could include:
- Food preparation across a range of culinary areas
- Following recipes and supporting culinary leadership
- Ensuring specifications are followed to ensure quality and consistency,
- Ensuring high levels of sanitation and cleanliness are maintained, all in keeping with company and USPH standards.
- Supporting logistics, preparation, and other tasks to support the culinary teams.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- To maintain the quality and presentation of all food served
- To follow all USPH procedures in all food production and galley maintenance.
- To assist the cooks and Commis
- To ensure back up is provided for the service lines.
- To follow all recipes to company specifications, and avoid wastage.
- To communicate and cooperate with all other team members, to ensure a smooth food delivery system.
- To ensure al ECP and Environmental regulations and procedures are followed with specific regard to garbage separation
- To perform all other tasks assigned by senior management.
Qualifications and competence:
- Minimum one year's experience in a restaurant, hotel, or cruise ship environment.
- Must have worked in a high-volume professional Culinary environment.
- Must be physically strong and able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs to sustain physically challenging work.
- Ability to work as part of a team and independently.
- US Visa C1/D is preferred however not required at the time of application (the transit and crewmember VISA must be obtained before start date)

- Basic Training Certificates as per STCW standard
- English language proficiency
- Health certificate
