OSM Thome is looking for an experienced Chief Engineer to serve on oil/chemical tankers trading worldwide. You will lead the engine department, ensure safe and efficient operation of all machinery, and support reliable and compliant tanker operations.
- Key responsibilities:
- Manage and supervise all engine room operations and personnel
- Plan and carry out maintenance and repairs on main engine and auxiliary machinery
- Monitor fuel, lube oil, and spare parts consumption and inventory
- Ensure safe operation of cargo handling and pumping systems from the engine side
- Maintain all engine room records and logbooks in line with company and flag rules
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental and Class/Port State requirements
- Requirements:
- Valid Chief Engineer license for seagoing vessels (STCW III/2 or equivalent)
- Recent experience as C/E or 1/E on oil/chemical tankers
- Strong knowledge of tanker operations, MARPOL and ISM/ISPS requirements
- Valid STCW basic and advanced tanker certificates
- Good English communication skills, both spoken and written
- Strong leadership, problem-solving skills, and a focus on safety
