OSM Thome is looking for an experienced 2nd Engineer for an oil/chemical tanker trading in the North Sea. You will work closely with the Chief Engineer to keep all machinery in safe and efficient running condition.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the Chief Engineer in daily engine room operation and maintenance
- Monitor and maintain main engine, auxiliaries, boilers and all deck/engine machinery
- Carry out planned maintenance and repair work as per PMS
- Ensure safe and efficient operation of fuel, lube oil and ballast systems
- Keep engine room logs, records and reports up to date
- Support safe cargo and bunker operations from the engine side
- Follow company safety, environmental and permit-to-work procedures
Requirements
- Valid STCW III/2 2nd Engineer CoC, suitable for oil/chemical tankers
- Recent seagoing experience as 2/E on oil/chemical tankers
- Valid tanker endorsements (oil and chemical) and STCW basic/advanced tanker training
- All required STCW safety courses and valid medical certificate
- Good English communication skills
- Strong safety awareness and hands-on approach in the engine room
