Contribution and Aim

The main purpose of this position is to implement the HSEQ Management System, and when required, amendment to HSEQ Management System documentation. It also supports the Company in compliance with HSEQ policies and processes.

Key Responsibilities and Role (s)

Health, Safety, Environment and Quality

  • Implement and monitor compliance with HSEQ policies and processes.
  • Implement HSEQ awareness/ campaigns. 
  • Develop, review and update HSEQ Management System documentation. 
  • Conduct internal/ external audit, when required, and ensure that corrective/ preventive action is carried out, closed out and followed up. 
  • Undertake mentoring and coordinate HSEQ training/ drill such as emergency preparedness, IRIS reporting, etc.
  • Report nonconformity, near accident and accident.
  • Assist in incident investigation to reported nonconformity, near accident and accident.
  • Assist HSEQ Manager in client/ supplier/ stakeholder meetings when required.
  • Conduct induction and familiarization, HSEQ orientation of newly-hired OSM Thome – Oceania employees.
  • Assist/ support OSM Group in various HSEQ project/ initiatives when required.
  • Perform any other task as instructed by HSEQ Manager.
  • Assist in preparation and distribution of new procedures in cooperation with other departments
  • Conduct training for the in-house use of related reporting system(s).
  • Prepare results, trends, and statistics in reporting system.
  • Assist with other work in the Department as required

Required Competencies 

  • Holder of Bachelor of Science Degree of any academic discipline.
  • Any ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or OHSAS 18001 training certificate.
  • Possess technical report writing skills
  • Good communication skills – written and verbal
  • Proficient in the use of Office Productivity tools
  • Proficient in progressing tasks and achieving timelines/KPIs with minimum supervision.
  • Knowledge of maritime regulations concerning training needs of seafarers
  • Ability or knowledge on establishment or amendment of policies and procedures associated with the HSE and Quality Management Systems
  • Shipboard experience on internationally trading vessels is an advantage in the role.
  • Have previously worked within an environment accredited with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, or OHSAS 18001
  • Preferably 3 to 5 years of experience in monitoring and auditing safety and quality standards Ability to work well with all levels of the organization - effective at working directly with senior leadership, as well as frontline employees
