- Job Title: Vessel Equipment Engineer ( Barge Engineer).
- Project: Offshore Cargo Barge.
- Location: Worldwide.
- Rotation: 35/35 days on/off.
- Salary: Please confirm your realistic expectations when applying. This will be discussed with the right candidate. Consolidated monthly salary.
- Duration: Open Ended.
- Contract Start: Approximately April 2026.
- Insurances: Provided by the company.
- Employer: Our client, a drilling and construction contractor.
Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a marine engineering role (Second Engineer and/or Electrical Engineer).
- Proven background working on barges and towing operations.
- Strong mechanical and/or electrical expertise (advanced level).
- Solid understanding of maritime regulations and onboard safety practices.
- Prior experience as a Seaman is required.
- Capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks with little to no supervision.
- Comfortable representing the asset owner on site and during towage.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized technical or engineering institute.
- Professional working proficiency in English.
Tasks:
- Oversee upkeep and operational readiness of all barge systems and equipment.
- Maintain and service:
- Main machinery and auxiliary systems.
- Ballast and pumping systems.
- Mooring equipment (winches, bollards, lines).
- Towing gear and associated components.
- Execute and control all ballasting and de-ballasting operations.
- Perform minor onboard repairs and preservation work (surface prep, painting, basic welding).
- Plan, request, and track spare parts, tools, and consumables.
- Supervise mooring personnel and support tug-related activities.
- Ensure security, condition, and accountability of all barge assets during operations and transit.
- Provide regular technical updates and reports to maintenance and project teams.
- Assist management with operational support and technical input as required.
