The Chief Engineer is responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, and safety of all engineering systems onboard. As Head of the Engineering Department, the role ensures that all machinery and technical equipment operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company policies and international maritime regulation
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the operation and maintenance of propulsion systems, auxiliary machinery, HVAC, electrical, and technical systems onboard.
- Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, Class, Flag State, and company requirements.
- Lead and supervise the engineering team, promoting high performance and safety standards.
- Manage planned maintenance schedules, spare parts, and technical inventories.
- Coordinate repairs, dry-docking activities, surveys, and inspections.
- Maintain accurate engineering records, reports, and documentation
Requirements:
- Chief Engineer Unlimited Certificate of Competency.
- Minimum 2 years' experience as Chief Engineer on passenger vessels or similar vessel types.
- Previous experience as Staff Engineer or First Engineer on technically complex vessels.
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and team management skills.
- Excellent English communication skills.
