Description
Wiper in the engine department on board an offshore pipe-layer. Assists engine officers in keeping main and auxiliary machinery, engine room spaces and equipment clean, safe and in good working order, in line with all vessel procedures, rules and regulations.
Key responsibilities
- Assist Chief and Second Engineer in routine engine room duties
- Clean and maintain engine room spaces, machinery and equipment
- Support with basic maintenance tasks as directed by engineering officers
- Follow all safety and environmental rules and regulations on board (including ISM & ISPS)
- Contribute to safe and efficient vessel operations and continuity of production
- Report any defects, unsafe conditions or incidents to the duty engineer
Requirements
- At least 1 year sea-going experience as Wiper or similar engine room rating
- Basic knowledge of engine room operations and machinery
- Ability to follow instructions and work safely in a team
- Valid seafarer documents and certificates as required for rank, vessel type and Netherlands flag
- Fit for worldwide service and willing to join in Mozambique
