We are seeking skilled Offshore Mechanical Fitter to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical and hydraulic systems, as well as diesel engines. This role requires a high level of technical expertise, a strong understanding of hydraulics and diesel systems, and the ability to work effectively in an offshore environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical and hydraulic systems on the offshore barge, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest safety and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel engine issues, and implement effective solutions to ensure optimal performance of equipment.
- Perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance on hydraulic and diesel systems to identify and address potential issues before they lead to downtime.
- Collaborate with the maintenance team to develop and implement maintenance schedules, and ensure that all mechanical and hydraulic systems are operating efficiently.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair work, including parts usage, equipment history, and maintenance logs.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, and actively participate in safety meetings and training programs to promote a safety-conscious work environment.
- Assist in the procurement of spare parts and equipment required for maintenance and repair activities, and ensure that inventory levels are maintained as per operational requirements.
Requirements
- Trade qualification as a Mechanical Fitter or equivalent, with a specialisation in hydraulics.
- Proven experience in maintaining and repairing mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel systems, preferably in an offshore or marine environment.
- Knowledge of hydraulic systems, components, and troubleshooting techniques.
- Proficiency in working with diesel engines, including maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals related to mechanical, hydraulic, and diesel systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team in challenging offshore conditions.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety, and a good understanding of relevant safety regulations and procedures.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
- Certificate of Medical Fitness (STCW or OGUK)
- OPITO T/BOSIET (Or Equivalent Industry STCW Basic Fire and Survival Technique Training)
- Provide First Aid (HLTAID011 of equivalent)
