Requirements/Qualifications/Competence:
- National CoC Reg. III/1 and endorsement.
- OPITO, BOSIET, H2S AND WELL CONTROL LEVEL 1 and STCW required certificates.
- Minimum 2 years experience of offshore activities.
- Oversee safe operations and upkeep of engine room machinery and propulsion systems during assigned watch periods.
- Complete and manage technical logs and reports in line with company protocols.
- Take on duties as Maintenance Lead or Ballast Operator when designated, per international maritime standards (IMO A.1079(28)).
- Proficiency in English.
Tasks:
- Support and report directly to the Second Engineer (DP).
- Stay informed and apply current company policies, maritime regulations, and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain operational consistency with vessel procedures and safety guidelines.
- Supervise and manage engine room operations during assigned duty periods.
- Follow company protocols for any DP-related engine room functions.
- Utilize maintenance systems (e.g., AMOS) to inspect and upkeep shipboard machinery, including emergency and safety devices.
- Conduct routine fluid sampling and analysis (cooling water, fuel, lubricants, sanitary water).
- Assist in refueling activities and manage fuel/oil transfers as needed.
- Notify the Second Engineer DP regarding spare part requirements to ensure equipment availability.
- Act as a member of the emergency response crew per vessel emergency plans.
- Identify, act on, and report any unsafe behaviors or hazards to the Second Engineer DP.
- Immediately inform senior engineers of any abnormal conditions or incidents in line with standard protocol.
- Seek approval from Chief/Second Engineer DP before initiating major tasks or changes.
- Escalate any safety threats that exceed personal responsibility or authority.
- Keep the vessel compliant with classification standards and maritime legislation.
- Support environmental compliance, especially concerning pollution prevention (e.g., MARPOL).
- Maintain accurate engine room logs and performance records during watchkeeping.
- Conduct watch handovers in alignment with internal procedures.
- Monitor and report daily fuel/oil usage levels (ROB calculations).
