Position Summary:

The Housekeeping Manager is responsible for the overall cleanliness, maintenance, and visual presentation of all guest and crew areas on the vessel. This role ensures that all staterooms, suites, public areas, and back-of-house spaces are maintained to the highest brand standards. The Housekeeping Manager leads a large team, supervises daily housekeeping operations, conducts inspections, and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, public health (USPH), and company procedures.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the cleanliness and maintenance of all guest and crew areas
  • Ensuring delivery of premium service standards and guest satisfaction
  • Leading, training, and developing supervisors and housekeeping staff
  • Conducting daily inspections, managing schedules, assigning duties, and supervising work quality
  • Managing inventory, supplies, equipment, and cost control
  • Handling guest concerns professionally and ensuring timely follow-up
  • Monitoring KPIs such as guest ratings, cleanliness scores, and workplace safety
  • Ensuring strict compliance with safety, environmental, USPH/Sanitation, and SQM standards
  • Supporting embarkation/disembarkation, luggage operations, and pool deck cleanliness
  • Upholding The Royal Way standards in guest service and crew behavior
  • Collaborating with the Executive Housekeeper for daily planning and operational needs

Qualifications:
  • Strong hospitality background with proven leadership experience in housekeeping management, ideally in a premium hotel, resort, or cruise environment.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills — ability to lead a large, multicultural team and ensure high operational standards.
  • Experience in training, coaching, and performance management of supervisors and staff.
  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to handle guest concerns professionally and maintain high satisfaction scores.
  • Solid understanding of housekeeping operations including cleaning standards, inventory management, scheduling, and quality control.
  • Knowledge of USPH, hygiene, sanitation, and safety regulations or willingness to learn quickly.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple projects, and make effective decisions.
  • Computer literacy, including the ability to use operational systems for scheduling, logs, requisitions, and performance tracking.
  • Strong financial awareness for cost control, inventory management, and meeting departmental KPIs.
  • Excellent English communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • STCW certifications if required by the company (depending on vessel/brand).
  • Ability to work onboard for extended contracts, with flexibility in hours, shifts, and operational needs.
  • Physical ability to walk, inspect areas, lift items, and participate in emergency drills.
