Main objectives for the position

Lead to and ensure an optimized technical availability for designated vessels and in every respect contribute to drive these vessels to a best-in-class performance level. This shall be reached while always stretching for the best competitive cost/OPEX level, while always maintaining positive client relations and while always working within the company’s HSEQ standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership, HSEQ and communication with crew &staff

• Actively promote and implement the company`s HSEQ culture & philosophy

• Contribute to the achievement of the company's targets and governing objectives

• Accountable for senior officer selection, performance management and promoting crew wellbeing

• Internal communication between all stakeholders/functions

• Follow up of crew and crew changes in cooperation with assigned crew managers

Operational follow-up & compliance

• Vessel complies with internal policies, statutory class and client requirements

• Charterer, oil major and class/statutory requirements

• Monitor and track changes in legislation, follow up and implement requirements in cooperation with Fleet Manager

• Prepare and carry out ship-shore meetings with vessel

• Conduct vessel visits/inspections as appropriate

• Contingency tasks as defined in the contingency manual

• Environmental performance in accordance with company`s targets and policy

• Participate in investigations when required

Maintenance and survey planning

• Vessel maintenance, repair planning and control; monitor and change as/when

required

• Preparation and execution of dry-docking

• Monitoring PMS system incl. stock and consumption control

• Assist vessel in technical and operational issues

• Follow up of procurement

Manage budgets, OPEX & cost control

• Prepare operating budget

• Budget control and cost approval inc. monthly balances

• Compile, review and provide comments in monthly finance report for owners.

• Manage vessel funding/balance inc. additional fund requests

• Follow up finance and procurement crew accounting

Communication with customers and other 3rd parties

• Daily point of contact to the owner

• Prepare regular meetings with the owner

• Coordinate and inform about vessel-related tasks in OSM Thome

• Coordinate insurance claims

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE

• Previous experience as Chief Engineer/ Master for a minimum of 8 months on relevant type of ships.

• Must have experience managing DSV / MPSV / Offshore construction vessels

• A proven track record as Superintendent for a minimum of 1 year in a shore-based Shipping Company will have an advantage.

• Candidate who are deemed technically competent and without shore experience will be considered.
