We are seeking for an experienced and motivated Culinary Trainer to join Royal Careibbean's Group shipboard Food Production team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate hospitality professional who combines strong culinary operations knowledge with outstanding coaching, mentoring, and people development skills.
In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the ship’s overall culinary training and development strategy for culinary crew members, helping to maintain high operational standards, improve performance, and support career growth across the team.
As Culinary Trainer, you will play a key role in developing culinary talent and ensuring compliance with company standards, service expectations, and operational best practices.
Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Supporting the execution of the ship’s Culinary Training & Development strategy
- Delivering structured training sessions for culinary crew members through practical coaching, role-play, and workstation-based learning
- Conducting daily training schedules, follow-up audits, and feedback sessions in coordination with the Executive Chef
- Leading daytime OMIY training modules on port days and assessing performance through nightly follow-up audits
- Conducting one-on-one coaching sessions and culinary performance audits during sea days
- Identifying high-potential crew members for development, as well as low performers who may require improvement plans
- Coaching Chef de Cuisine, Sous Chefs, and Chef de Partie on how to effectively deliver training sessions and assess results
- Supporting compliance with new training initiatives, company directives, and the GROW program
- Assisting leadership in strengthening performance, food quality, and training consistency across the culinary team
Qualifications and competence:
- Minimum 2 years of management experience in a high-volume food and beverage operation within an upscale hotel, resort, cruise ship, or convention banqueting environment
- Previous shipboard experience is preferred
- High school diploma required
- Strong leadership and management skills in a multicultural and fast-paced environment
- Excellent presentation and platform skills, with the ability to engage and train groups effectively
- Strong communication, problem-solving, decision-making, and interpersonal skills
- Proven ability to develop team members and support employee engagement
- Good understanding of service standards, quality expectations, and guest satisfaction principles
- Knowledge of HR-related practices and performance development processes
- Comfortable using computer systems and software such as Excel, Word, and related programs
Language Requirement:
All candidates must be able to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken, to understand procedures, provide instructions, and interact professionally with guests, supervisors, and colleagues.
Physical Requirements
- Participate in emergency drills and lifesaving procedures
- Lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Stand and walk for extended periods
- Work in a dynamic, travel-based environment with varying accommodations and conditions
