Join OSM Thome as Chief Officer on a bulk carrier trading worldwide. You will be a key member of the deck team, supporting the Master and ensuring safe and efficient vessel operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Master with navigation, watchkeeping and ship handling
- Plan and supervise cargo operations, loading, discharging and stowage
- Lead and manage the deck crew in daily deck and hold maintenance
- Oversee ballast operations and stability, ensuring trim and draft are within limits
- Maintain deck equipment, safety gear and LSA/FFA in good working order
- Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental and company procedures
- Prepare and conduct safety drills and crew training
Requirements
- Valid Chief Officer / Chief Mate license (unlimited)
- Previous experience as Chief Officer or strong 2/O experience on bulk carriers
- Valid STCW certificates and seafarer medical fitness
- Good knowledge of bulk cargo operations and stability
- Strong leadership, communication and team-working skills
- Good command of written and spoken English
