Join OSM Thome as Engine and Deck Fitter on a bulk carrier trading worldwide. Work closely with the engine and deck teams to keep all steel structures, machinery foundations, pipelines, and deck equipment in safe and reliable condition.
- Key responsibilities:
- Carry out steel repairs, cutting, welding and fabrication in engine room and on deck
- Maintain and repair pipes, brackets, supports, gratings and handrails
- Assist with maintenance of deck machinery and engine room equipment as instructed
- Perform hot work and gas cutting safely in accordance with onboard procedures
- Support planned maintenance and emergency repairs during voyage and in port
- Requirements:
- Sea-going experience as Fitter on bulk carriers or similar vessel type
- Strong skills in welding, gas cutting and steel fabrication
- Good knowledge of safe work practices, hot work and permit-to-work systems
- Valid seaman’s documents and medical fitness certificate
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multinational crew
