Join OSM Thome as Chief Engineer (C/E) on a bulk carrier trading worldwide. Take full charge of the engine department and ensure safe, efficient and reliable operation of all machinery and systems onboard.
- Key responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the engine department team
- Operate, monitor and maintain main engine, auxiliaries and all engine room equipment
- Plan and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance
- Ensure vessel complies with safety, environmental and class requirements
- Manage spare parts, bunkers and lube oil consumption and inventory
- Prepare engine room for port state, class and internal inspections
- Report technical issues and cooperate closely with shore-based technical team
- Requirements:
- Valid Certificate of Competency as Chief Engineer (unlimited)
- Experience as C/E on bulk carriers or similar vessel type
- Strong knowledge of marine diesel engines and shipboard systems
- Good command of English, spoken and written
- Valid STCW certificates and medical fitness
- Proactive, safety-minded and able to lead a multicultural team
