Join OSM Thome as a Radio Operator onboard an offshore seismic/research vessel in Brazil. In this role, you will ensure safe and efficient radio communications, supporting vessel operations and compliance with international standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain all radio and communication equipment onboard
- Monitor distress, safety, and calling frequencies at all times
- Handle daily communication with shore, other vessels, and relevant authorities
- Maintain radio logs, records, and relevant documentation
- Support the bridge team with navigational and operational information
- Ensure compliance with GMDSS and other applicable regulations
Requirements
- Valid GMDSS General Operator Certificate or national equivalent
- Previous experience as Radio Operator, preferably on offshore or seismic/research vessels
- Good knowledge of marine communication procedures and regulations
- Ability to communicate clearly in English, spoken and written
- Strong attention to detail, reliability, and safety awareness
