OSM Thome is looking for an experienced 2nd Cook / Assistant Cook to support the galley team on board an offshore seismic/research vessel operating in Brazil. You will help secure safe, good quality meals for crew and officers and keep a clean, well-organized galley.
- Key responsibilities:
- Assist Chief Cook in daily food preparation and cooking for all on board
- Prepare basic hot and cold dishes, baking and snacks as instructed
- Maintain high standards of galley and pantry hygiene and cleanliness
- Handle and store provisions correctly, including thawing and stock rotation
- Support in receiving and checking stores and reporting any shortages
- Follow company safety, food safety and HACCP procedures at all times
- Requirements:
- Previous experience as 2nd Cook / Assistant Cook on offshore or merchant vessels
- Valid STCW certificates and offshore documents as per flag and client requirements
- Basic knowledge of nutrition, food safety and galley hygiene standards
- Good English communication skills
- Fit for duty with valid medical certificate
- Willingness to work in a multicultural crew and follow company procedures
