Technical Superintendent

Ensuring that the running maintenance and dry dockings of an assigned number of vessels is executed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective way. The technical Superintendent will maintain the technical status and maximize the uptime of our fleet.

Accountabilities and responsibilities (to include but not limited to: 

  • Ensure that day to day operations are performed in a safe, professional, efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Manage client expectations and build-up a close relationship and 'goodwill' with the customer representative/client on site
  • Coordinate and execute the daily running maintenance within budget on board of vessels
  • Monitor and follow-up on the planned maintenance system
  • Generate and approve purchase orders and requisitions and receive & inspect goods delivered
  • Supervise, coach, and instruct Chief Engineers if and when required to ensure smooth and professional on-board technical management
  • Undertake vessel inspections and report on the status of the vessels to the Regional Marine Manager and Contract Manager.
  • Investigate and analyze root causes of defects and take timely corrective and preventive actions.
  • Arrange surveys with flag state and classification authorities and other relevant parties.
  • Ensure full compliance of vessel certifications with flag state and class requirements. • Plan, coordinate and execute dry dockings in line with quality standards, agreed budgets and timelines.
  • Supervise and evaluate activities and performance of third-party contractors and vendors.
  • Ensure damages to be surveyed and repaired in close consultation with classification societies and the insurance department.
  • Optimize and implement technical (new build) standards.
  • Maintain daily communication with assigned vessels

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Maritime Engineering or Naval Architecture.
  • Experience in Project Management
  • A strong communicator (verbal and written)
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years in Ship Management as a Technical Superintendent or equivalent.
  • Team player with a collaborative approach, maintaining high standards and good work ethics.
  • High level of organizational and planning skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities and conflicting deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to deliver high quality outcomes that are accurate, complete, and timely
